Terms and Conditions

All tuition given to pupils (referred to as ‘You’) by ICE Driving School (referred to as ‘We’ or ‘Us’) is subject to the following Terms and Conditions. Please read these and familiarise yourself with them. You must sign and agree to adhere to the Terms and Conditions otherwise further tuition cannot be given.

  • Cancellation Policy: Intensive courses cannot be cancelled within 28 days of the start date; regular lessons require 48 hours’ notice to avoid full charges.
  • Fitness to Drive: You must be medically fit, legally compliant, and not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Eyesight Test: Conducted during your first lesson; glasses/contact lenses required if applicable.
  • Non-refundable Payments: Deposits and block bookings are non-refundable, with conditions for refunds subject to an administration fee.
  • Practical Test Requirements: We may withdraw the vehicle if you’re not test-ready and require minimum 2.5-hour lesson bookings for tests. You must have completed a minimum of 5 hours training with us before attempting a test.
  • Legal Responsibility: You are responsible for fines or offences committed during tests and must adhere to road safety instructions.

Licence Requirement:

  • Hold a valid provisional, full, or international driving licence.
  • Inform us immediately of any points, endorsements, or bans on your licence.
  • Photocard licences must be presented before the first lesson and are valid for 10 years.

Pupil Cancellation:

  • Intensive courses cannot be cancelled without charge 14 days prior to the course start date.
  • No refunds after the course has started.
  • Changes to course hours require the instructor’s consent and may incur extra charges.
  • All deposits are non-refundable; refunds (if applicable) are subject to a £50 administration fee.
  • Regular lessons require 48 hours’ notice for cancellation, or the full lesson cost will apply.

Fitness to Drive:

  • You must be fit to drive legally, medically, and in terms of eyesight.
  • Inform us of any medical conditions or special needs that may affect your driving.
  • Lessons will be cancelled immediately if you are unfit due to alcohol, drugs, or other impairments—full cost still payable.

Eyesight:

  • An eyesight test will be conducted during your first lesson to confirm you can read a number plate from 20.5 metres or 67 feet.
  • If needed, bring your glasses or contact lenses to lessons. Failure to do so means the lesson cannot proceed, but the full cost still applies.

Block Bookings:

  • Must be paid in advance and used within 12 months.
  • Non-refundable under all circumstances.

Prices:

  • Prices are current at the time of booking but may change with two weeks’ written notice.
  • Prepaid block bookings will be honoured without additional charges.

Audio/Video/Photographic Recording:

  • Tuition vehicles have audio and video recording equipment for insurance and educational purposes.
  • By taking lessons, you consent to being recorded and for the material to be used for training or promotions.

Lesson Duration:

  • The minimum lesson duration is one hour.
  • Your lesson starts from the moment you enter the car.

Training Vehicle:

  • The training vehicle will be fully insured, taxed, roadworthy, and fitted with dual controls.
  • If using your own vehicle, provide proof of insurance. We may refuse tuition in personal vehicles.

Practical Test:

  • We require you to have completed at least 5 hours training in the car before taking a test.
  • We may withdraw the training vehicle for the test if you are not deemed test-ready.
  • Practical tests require a minimum of 2.5 hours (1-hour lesson before the test and vehicle hire during the test).
  • Our instructors may accompany you during the test. Refusal could result in withdrawal of the vehicle.

Test Termination:

  • If your test is terminated, all permission to drive the school vehicle CEASES IMMEDIATELY.
  • Remove the keys, exit the vehicle, and return to the test centre with the examiner.
  • Driving without supervision after test termination is illegal and will be reported to the police.

Instructor Cancellation:

  • We are not responsible for lessons postponed due to illness, bad weather, or mechanical issues.
  • We are not liable for driving tests cancelled by the DVSA or for vehicle issues during the test.

Legal Responsibility:

  • Our main goal is road safety; you must follow instructions without argument.
  • We train to the highest standard, but we are not responsible for driving errors made without our supervision.
  • During your driving test, you are legally responsible for the vehicle and any fines or offences incurred.
